Axminster Town Reserves 3, Woodbury 2
Adam Whitehouse scored a hat-trick to keep the Tigers second string on top of the Division Four table.
With the visitors having inflicted a rare defeat upon the Tigers earlier in the season pay-back was very much the order of the day!
It took just two minutes for Whitehouse to open his account with a spectacular effort. He gathered the ball in his own half, raced down the right wing and cut inside before unleashing a fierce strike that screamed past the Woodbury keeper! A James Salter free-kick was a whisker away from extending the lead before the visitors levelled in the 25th minute, capitalising on some sloppy defensive play.
Woodbury then slotted a penalty, but their lead was short lived for, just two minutes later, parity was restored when Joel Seward’s precise pass found Whitehouse and he made no mistake.
After the break Town were guilty of a number of misses before, with 15 minutes remaining Whitehouse was felled in the area and he got up to slot the resultant penalty, completing his hat-trick and sealing another success for the side.
On Saturday the Tigers Reserves travel to Newtown in Exeter.
