Archant

Rehearsals are now well under way for the next production by Honiton Players Amateur Dramatic Society.

Over the weekend Friday, December 14, until Sunday, December 16, there will be five performances of Charles Dickens’ classic story A Christmas Carol

Ebenezer Scrooge is a penny-pinching miser in the first degree. He particularly detests Christmas, which he views as ‘a time for finding yourself a year older, and not an hour richer’.

Scrooge is visited, on Christmas Eve, by the ghost of his former partner Jacob Marley, who died seven Christmas Eves ago. He tells Scrooge that he will be haunted by three spirits, the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and yet to come, who succeed in showing Scrooge the error of his ways.

The performances will take place at Honiton Community College and tickets will be on sale at the Honiton Toy Shop from Monday, November 12. Tickets will cost £6 for adults and £4 for children under 16 years old.

A spokesman said: “It is hoped that some of the junior members who have been attending the drama groups will also take part. Please come along and support your local drama society.”

A solo singer is a rarity in itself at Seaton Music, but members knew they were in for a concert with a difference when pianist Andrew Daldorph appeared dressed as Franz Schubert might have been in 1827, and baritone Alexander Poulton came on from the back of the hall also in period costume.
