A Night of Dirty Dancing – a spectacular and sizzling stage show featuring all the hits from the 1980s’ iconic musical film Dirty Dancing – is at Exmouth’s Pavilion on February 18. Recast, re-scripted and billed as “the sexiest song and dance sensation of 2015”, music and dance fans have the chance to experience the all-new box office hit A Night of Dirty Dancing, the ultimate tribute show, as it embarks on a nationwide tour.

Released in 1987, Dirty Dancing was an American romantic musical drama starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey in the lead roles. A coming-of-age drama set in the summer of 1963, it tracks a teenage girl’s relationship with a dance instructor who she encounters during her family’s summer holiday at Kellerman’s, a resort in the Catskill mountains.

The film’s score included: She’s Like the Wind, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Hey Baby, Wipeout, Do You Love Me, Be My Baby, Hungry Eyes and the Oscar-winning (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.

“The celebrated film Dirty Dancing boasted the greatest movie soundtrack of all time,” says show producer Michael Taylor. “All these hits are superbly performed in this fast-moving, slickly-choreographed theatrical treat.

“A Night of Dirty Dancing is an all-new production featuring an all-star cast, the next exciting chapter in the amazing musical legacy that is Dirty Dancing,” says Michael. “It’s all down to Kellerman’s end-of-season show. Revel in the moments you loved, the memories you made and the music that’s resonated throughout the years.”

The film defines the 1980s. Originally a low-budget movie, it became a massive box-office hit, was the first film to sell a million videos, produced a top 10 UK single and achieved album sales of 42 million worldwide.

“Prepare for a night of dirty dancing with the inspirational, aspirational box-office smash of the year,” says Michael. “Our sensational production brings all the hits to life, lavishly, live on stage.”
