Classical rehearsal invitation to Exeter

18:30 18 February 2013

Archant

The EMG Symphony Orchestra is inviting you to go “behind the scenes” and see how a large amateur symphony orchestra prepares for a concert.

This free event will provide an opportunity to meet the players and to sit amongst the orchestra during the rehearsal to experience the music from the players’ perspective as the EMG rehearses for its spring concert, which features Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture and Symphony Number 5, as well as Rachmaninov’s evocative symphonic poem Toteninsel (Isle of the Dead).

This event is particularly aimed at children and young people who are learning an orchestral instrument, but anyone with an interest in classical music is welcome to attend.

The open rehearsal will take place at 7.30pm on Thursday, February 28, at St Peter’s School, Quarry Lane, Exeter, EX2 5AP.

The orchestra asks that all under-16s are accompanied by an adult.
