● Axminster Historical Society will hear about Old Devon Murders from Simon Dell MBE, who was so well received when he visited last year.

He returns this time to talk about some of the county’s notable murders. Simon spent some 30 years in the police force and has published 11 books on policing.

The event will take place at 7.30pm, on Wednesday, February 6, at the United Reformed Church Hall, Chard Street, Axminster.

● Cloakham Lawns will be hosting a quiz on Friday, February 8, at 7.30pm.

Teams of up to six will be welcome at the Chard Road venue, at a cost of £2 per person. Turn up or contact 01297 35605

● FRANKENSTEIN! will be appearing at Stockland Village Hall on Saturday, February 9, at 7.30pm, courtesy of Miracle Theatre Company.

Told with the visual flair of early cinema and the elegant charm of the post- war British musical, this silly, but tender, story of unrequited love, confused monsters and science gone mad, promises to hit the spot.

It features foot-tapping songs, dazzling dance, eye watering comedy and a jolly good fright!

It is suitable for ages seven-107 and to book tickets call Wendy 01404 881207.

Family tickets cost £30, children £8 and adults £10.

● Once again those talented children and young people of the Axmouth Children’s Theatre are putting on their annual pantomime.

This year ACT is staging It’s Cool for Cats, written by Malcolm Henty and Beth Woods, which is their take on that perennial favourite of the story of Dick Whittington.

Directed by Malcolm and assisted by several adults from the village, it will be an evening of fun, music, colour and laughter for all ages.

This year the part of Dick will be played by Victoria Herrity and Jools, his cat will be taken by Callum Wood wonderfully supported by every member of the cast many of whom will be playing parts for the very first time.

It will be staged in the village hall in Axmouth from Thursday, February 21 to Saturday, February 23, at 7.30pm.

The tickets are £5 for adults and £2 for children aged 14 and under andtickets are available from Doris Clement on 01297 23847.

● The annual Seaton Panto is just a week away, starting on Valentine’s Day.

It is sure to have the obligatory love story along with the usual silly jokes and slapstick!

Predominantly a ‘youth’ cast with a few older popular local thespians mixed together with a hilarious script and foot tapping songs this is a recipe for a fun family show.

It will run until Saturday, February 17. Tickets for adults £8 and for 12 and are available from Seaton Town Hall box office.
