Great variety night from youngsters in Axminster

Axminster’s Guildhall was packed for the annual variety show, which was presented by Niclaire Skye, of Skye Dance, with the assistance of Sara Leat.

Dancers from the group presented a range of different styles including ballet, jazz, Irish and a rock number to conclude the event.

The Skye Bluebells and Snowdrops, The Skye Tots - the youngest in the cast were also put through their paces, with each dance routine receiving the strong applause it deserved.

One of the older dancers, Katie Pike, also took to the microphone, to give an accomplished rendition of Someone Like You.

Members of Skye Dance were joined by other performers to add to the occasion.

The Sarah Ryan singers presented a series of songs that were dotted throughout the programme

In these cases, the young singers showed great skill in their presentation, with Bryoni Taylor performing a solo and a duet with Rory Ryan. Axminster Primary School Glee Club also sang three songs for the event, the Axminster Primary School Rap, Wings and the Diamond Jubilee song, Sing.

In a slight departure from the rest of the show, Gina’s BellyGees, an adult group, performed two belly dances.

The second half of the show was split in the middle by young pianist Harry Eastwood, who played two pieces, including Bohemian Rhapsody.

The whole show was rounded off with a grand finale, with all the members of Skye Dance rocking to Smoke on the Water, with each one having their own inflatable guitar.

They were joined by the rest of the contributors, for the audience to show their full appreciation of the performers skills.
