The Jurassic Folk Christmas Party on was an absolute gas.
Jenny and the staff at the Grove had decorated the room to resemble Santa’s grotto, the Amycrofters brought lots of Christmas hats, and Ivor, Mr Chairman, had set out the chairs and tables and laid out lots of delicious nibbles.
Then Peter handed out special Jurassic Folk Photo Calendars to all the performers who had their pictures displayed on their birth month and the show got under way.
The first half squeezed in as many artists as possible, and it seemed that practically all the regulars were there, so listing them all would take up far too much space on this page.
During the interval, songsheets were handed out and the ad hoc house band, One Foot in the Grove, took to the stage and, joined by a few extra singers, started off with an a capella round, A Star Shone in the East, which went off surprisingly well.
After that, the band really let loose with a series of songs with which the audience joined in with gusto aplenty. Verdict from one and all; a cracking good party!
So, recovering to a modicum of sanity, the first session in 2012 will be on January 18, at the usual time of 8.15pm, at the Grove and, as always it will be free admission and all are welcome.
