Axminster Drama Club’s production of Aladdin opens on Thursday, at Axminster Guildhall.
The story follows the traditional tale of a lazy boy whose mother runs a laundry business, who makes it good when a magic lamp comes into his possession, allowing him access to riches beyond his wildest dreams.
Added to the mix, of course, is the evil Abanazar, whose aim is to win power for himself.
You’ll need to go along to the show to see all the twists and turns that a pantomime plot demands.
The performers have been working under the expert guidance of the show’s director, Sara Dowell, who is ably assisted by Jack Price, who have both brought their own ideas to the staging of the show, the script for which has been written by Ben Crocker.
You’ll have to go along to see how much work has gone into bringing this show to the stage.
Although a traditional tale, there will be one or two modern twists for the audience to look forward to.
The show runs in Axminster’s Guildhall from Thursday, January 19 to Saturday, January 21, with a matinee planned for the Saturday.
Tickets are available from Archway Bookshop, in Church Street, Axminster at a price of £9 for adults, £6 for concessions and £24 for a family ticket that can only be bought in advance. Discounts are available for adult tickets bought in advance.
