Top violinist to play in Colyton

VLAD Maistorovici, the sensational violinist, will play in St Andrew's Church, Colyton, on Saturday, May 15, at 7.30pm.

Vlad was born in Romania, but came to the Yehudi Menuhin School to study and then went on to the Royal College of Music. He plays at all the major venues in Europe and has played in New York. He will be accompanied by Diana Ionescu, another prize-winning musician. Diana won the George Enescu Piano Competition in 2001, as well as the Alexis Weissenberg Prize in the same year.

She, too, has played at major venues throughout the world and has recently recorded the Schumann Piano Concerto with the Romanian National Orchestra and performed Schumann's Piano Quintet with the Belcea Quartet.

This concert is made possible in Colyton with the sponsorship of the Tillet Trust. Tickets are available from Brainwave, in Colyton, or by ringing (01297) 553238.
