THE Met Office has now issued a weather warning for snow across Somerset and Devon on Wednesday (March 8).

The yellow warning also covers parts of Cornwall and stretches across to the South East of England and into South Wales and will be in force throughout the day.

It follows yellow weather warning issued by the Met Office earlier this morning for snow and ice across West Somerset, Sedgemoor and North Somerset from 9pm today (Monday, March 6) until 10am tomorrow.

Wednesday's snow warning for Somerset and Devon advises there is likely to be some travel disruption on Wednesday.

People are being warned of:

  • a small chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel;
  • a slight chance that some rural communities could become cut off;
  • a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected;
  • a small chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces;
  • and a slight chance that bus and train services may be delayed or cancelled, with some road closures and longer journey times.
