The Uplyme and Lyme Regis Horticultural Society has announced its program of events for 2024.

The programme encompasses talks, trips, coffee mornings and shows – in total close to 30 for the year. Talks from experts cover a wide variety of topics including specific plant species such as ornamental grasses and hostas, how to choose the right veg to grow, wildlife, and demonstrations of spring flowers, unusual fruits and soil.

Coffee mornings are held in February, May and October, while the annual plant sale is also held in May. The society’s Summer Flower and Produce Show will be held in August and the Autumn Show in October. Tricia Boyd, talks organiser, said: “Our aim is to provide something of interest to all our 400 members, whether they’re complete novices or highly experienced horticulturalists.”

Trips for the society take place from February through to December on both weekdays and weekends. There are 14 trips in 2024 including snowdrops, historic properties and gardens, garden festivals, nursery visits and open gardens. Destinations are chosen for catering quality as well as horticultural interest.

All events are open to visitors as well as members at an additional cost of £3 per event. Membership of the society is only £6 per annum so the cost can be recouped in only a couple of events.
