Dragonflies Preschool in Axminster are celebrating this week after being rated 'good' by the school inspector Ofsted.

Following the inspection in November, they have once again been rated 'Good' in all areas and their report has now been officially published and is available on the Ofsted website.

The inspector described the setting as having a very welcoming and nurturing environment, with well-qualified staff delivering a broad and interesting curriculum with a focus on outdoor learning and praised communications and partnerships with parents and other Early Years professionals.

The report also included references to the quality of teaching at Dragonflies, as well as the preschool's effective safeguarding arrangements.

Early Years Room Manager, Donna Anderson, said “We were very pleased with the report, as it reflects all the hard work put in by our staff team and trustees to make our setting an amazing place for children to begin their education. Thank you to our staff, the children and their families for their continual support along the way."

The report said: "The quality of teaching is good. Staff know the children well, monitor their progress closely and provide targeted next steps to help close any gaps in their development. They provide challenges to build further on children's learning.

"Children benefit from the very welcoming and nurturing environment. They arrive happy and keen to attend, settle well and feel safe and secure. Staff provide comfort when children need additional reassurance.

"Staff deliver a broad and interesting curriculum with a focus on outdoor learning. Children enjoy many activities within the school grounds and outings in the local community to enhance their understanding of the world."

The report added: "To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should provide time and opportunity for children to think and respond to questions to strengthen their thinking and communication skills even further.

Dragonflies Preschool opens each weekday, from 8.45am to 3.25pm, during term time only.

The group receives funding to provide free early years education for children aged two, three and four years.
