Hidden Oak on Sidmouth Road in East Devon is now under new ownership.

The business, previously The Halfway Inn, situated halfway between London and Land's End, was transformed into an equestrian store and café complex in 2021.

In October 2023, it transferred to the stewardship of husband-and-wife team Guy and Jane Kenyon.

Jane Kenyon revealed her long history with horses and her retail experience.

She said: "I was born in the UK but moved to South Africa with my family as a child.

"Although not from a horsey family, I soon caught the bug that was to become an in integral part of my life.

"I have competed across most disciplines including show jumping, eventing and dressage."

She continued: "Despite getting a degree in Education I ended up working at the large equestrian retailer, Western Shoppe, in South Africa, where I stayed for 26 years."

Hidden Oak has a mission to bring the equestrian community in East Devon together.

It offers a one-stop-shop for anything equestrian - from feed and bedding to horse and rider wear.

The wide range of products from preferred brands can also be found on its website, which includes a click-and-collect option for customers.

The on-site country café is open seven days a week, 9am to 4pm, with the kitchen serving until 3pm.

The café is proud to offer a menu of locally-sourced breakfasts and lunches, along with homemade cakes baked daily.

It provides options to cater to vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free customers.

The Kenyons are excited to build on the excellent foundations already in place at Hidden Oak and extend their retail skills and love of horses into their new venture.
