The public have been invited to attend an open day at The Beehive in Honiton.

The community entertainment centre will be opening its doors on Saturday, April 6 between 10am and 2pm.

Visitors from near and far have a golden opportunity to discover the centre's diverse range of events, activities, cinema screenings, theatre productions and much more.

The cultured hub, situated in the heart of the market town, not only offers entertainment but also serves as a warm and friendly café.

The event will also give people the chance to interact with the hard-working staff members who run The Beehive and some of the brilliant volunteers.

The venue, with an annual footfall of 60,000, is a testament to community spirit run by a charity with two full-time and nine part-time staff plus 90 volunteers.

On the day, visitors can listen to live music being played in the cafe by the talented local musician Alan West.
Try free samples of delicious homemade cakes and bakes and discover upcoming events and learn more about becoming a volunteer.

The centre's popular Art & Craft Café group will be present to share more information about joining them.

There's a chance to explore The Beehive’s gallery space and gain valuable insights into organising an art exhibition.

There will be stalls providing information on community groups who use the centre, including Honiton’s Community Theatre Company, TASH, U3A and Slimming World. There will even be a theatre performance by Theatre Kidz.

The centre is fully DDA compliant, with wheelchair access to the café and auditorium, complete with a lift and fully equipped changing place facility.

The Beehive’s marketing manager, Rachael Larsson-Carter said: "We are delighted to be opening our doors, welcoming visitors to come and discover The Beehive and everything that we have to offer.

"We believe there is something for everyone, right here in the heart of Honiton."

With its aim to entertain, host live events, provide support, a safe space and to raise awareness of their services to the whole community.

The Beehive is reaching out to the people of Honiton and surrounding areas to join them on this open day.
