The Ottery St Mary Twinning Association donated £1,000 and its entire archive to the Ottery Museum.

The association chose to make this significant contribution following its decision to disband.

Mark Rix, chairman of the association, presented the cheque to the Heritage Society in late November last year.

The society states it will use the donated funds and archives to host an exhibition celebrating the Twinning Association's decades-long exchanges with Pont L’Eveque in France and Ilsfeld in Germany.

The Ottery Museum is also eagerly preparing the new materials for display in time for its summer season opening.

This takes place on Good Friday, March 29.

The museum welcomes both returning visitors and first-time attendees to explore the museum's revamped exhibits, and listen to the extraordinary accounts that detail the past of the area's residents and landmark events.

One highlight of this season is the distinct display crafted by Phoebe Smith, an Ottery student at Colyton Grammar School.

As part of her Duke of Edinburgh Award project, Ms Smith conducted a fascinating study on Ottery's Pixie Days, including comprehensive interviews with previous Pixies.

Individuals who have participated as Pixies or have children who will be Pixies this year are especially encouraged to attend.

The museum once again welcomes those interested in local history to consider joining their team as a steward.

In this role, individuals will have the chance to meet and greet both local and international visitors to the museum.

Interested parties are asked to contact Lynda Murleski at otteryheritage@gmail.com or attend one of the museum's regular meetings held at the institute.

Volunteering opportunities are also available for individuals considering a trustee position and have a keen interest in the history of Ottery St Mary.

Potential trustees are requested to reach out to the museum for more information.
