An exciting series of events is being planned to celebrate Cranbrook's 13-year anniversary - and volunteers are needed.

The events are being planned by Move More Cranbrook, a programme supported by Sport England that aims to help residents in the town lead more active lives.

Following the success of events last year which include the town’s first ever Santa Run, the Move More Cranbrook delivery group is on the hunt for volunteers to help it deliver a programme of events in 2024.

Matt Rowett from Move More Cranbrook said: "All of our events are run exclusively by volunteers in the Cranbrook community.

"Because we all live in or very near to Cranbrook ourselves, it means that we can put on a programme of events that we know people will want to go to."

Events planned for 2024 include a vibrant colour run and a family fun day in July, suitable for all ages and physical capability levels.

But steering group member James Bogue said volunteers will be needed to make sure these can go ahead.

He said: "Regardless of whether somebody can give a little bit of time or a lot, we can’t deliver these awesome events without additional support.

"It’s a great team and we can assure anybody who wants to get involved that they’ll receive a warm welcome and we’d love to have them on board."

The group has a particular interest in people with experience in organising or supporting events, and those who enjoy physical activity. But the most important thing is a positive attitude and willingness to work with others.

Cllr Kim Bloxham, a ward councillor for Cranbrook, said: "Move More Cranbrook is a fantastic initiative for the town.

"It’s the perfect way to meet new people, get active and stay healthy too!

"We need more volunteers to help with Move More events.

"Whether you can spare a little time or a lot, please help these events to continue in our town."

People interested in volunteering with Move More Cranbrook are encouraged to contact the group for an informal chat and to find out more about their programme.
