A plaque has been installed at Axminster Heritage Centre to commemorate the life of architect Richard James Abrams BSc ARIBA, a long-time supporter, who passed away last year.
The plaque was unveiled in the entrance to Thomas Whitty House by Richard’s widow Hilary Abrams on Friday, April 7.
The executive committee chairman of Axminster Heritage, Stuart Courtman, said: “Richard worked tirelessly alongside the founding fathers of Axminster Heritage for a number of years to support the restoration of the building you see today.”
After the unveiling, Heritage Centre members introduced their latest temporary exhibition, Britain’s Railways, an exploration and celebration of the industrial and social history of the rail network.
It was created by Axminster Heritage Collections committee member and trustee, Rebecca Green, and features panels on Seaton Junction and the Axminster to Lyme Regis branch line as well as Axminster Station.
