Exmouth Town’s management partnership is to be temporarily ended as one of the pair - Kevin Miller - is taking a break from the club for personal reasons.

Miller, who also played league football for Birmingham City, Watford, Crystal Palace, Torquay United, Barnsley and Bristol Rovers, arrived at Southern Road at the end of September to replace Peter Buckingham, who had taken on the role of Town boss at the start of the season following the departure of Richard Pears to take the hot seat at Barnstaple Town.

Andy Rawlings will continue as manager in sole charge of first team affairs and is likely to call upon the match-by-match assistance from one of the many contacts he has fostered during his long time in the game.

Rawlings says of this latest development: “Kev and I go way, way back, and know each other inside out.

“In his current situation he has a few things to sort out and so has stepped away from the club, but I do see that very much as a short-term thing and believe we will see him back with us before too long.

“Let’s face it, any club would consider themselves fortunate to have Kev in the dressing room where he is, frankly, larger than life and his knowledge of the game is simply second to none.”

In the meantime, Rawlings will run team matters on his own, but he will call in match-by-match help.

He explained saying: “I have extensive contacts and have spoken with a number of friends who, whilst they cannot commit on a permanent basis, have said they will help when and where they can. But let me reiterate, I sincerely hope we have not seen a permanent parting of the ways between Exmouth Town Football Club and Kevin Miller.”

On Saturday, Town will be hoping to see action for the first time since the December 9 meeting with Callington Town.

Town are due to host third bottom Camelford, who have yet to win an away game this season having lost eight and drawn one of their nine away games so far.

With Brandon Green and Ace High still to serve bans there will be a change in strike personal. Sam Cooper is now fully fit after injury and he will lead the line in a two-man attack alongside Dean Billingsley.

Rawlings says: “The lads are itching to get back into action and I have no doubt they will be looking to deliver a good show for the home faithful.”
