There was a once in a lifetime chance to see some championship-winning Williams Formula One racing cars at Lympstone Manor, near Exmouth.
The free public viewing was ahead of a ticketed evening of speed and celebration, arranged by Michelin-starred chef and Lympstone Manor owner Michael Caines.
The event was held to mark the start of the 40th anniversary of the F1 Williams Racing team.
The rare vehicle display comprised the Williams Heritage F1 cars, only usually seen on the track, in the ‘stunning setting’ of the Exe estuary.
A Lympstone Manor spokesperson said: “A long-time partner of Williams Racing, Michael Caines creates signature menus throughout the Grand Prix calendar for the team, making Lympstone Manor the perfect place to start the celebrations.”
After the public viewing of the cars, the ticketed F1 Pit Stop evening rolled on to the starting grid.
The event featured a five-course dinner created by Mr Caines, with the chance to ‘rub shoulders’ with Williams Racing legend Damon Hill, winner of the 1996 F1 Drivers Championship,
In addition, Hill hosted an auction of F1 memorabilia to raise funds for two charities, of which he is patron – Down Syndrome International, and Down’s Syndrome Association UK.
