From now until September 5, British wildlife conservation charity, Wildwood Trust, will be treating visitors to a jam-packed six weeks of summer fun at its venue near Ottery St Mary.
Helping families make memories to last a lifetime after 18 months of lockdowns, the Escot park, will be offering everything from interactive crafts and talks about iconic species to animal feeding sessions and the chance to make jewellery in an authentic Saxon forge. There will even be bushcraft classes, including fire-lighting, shelter-building and foraging, as well as the chance to make like a beaver building dams on the stream.
Those that don’t get permanently lost in the world class maze can explore the woodlands featuring stunning trees and a variety of outdoor adventure play including the tree-top drop-slide and 30m zip line.
Children and big kids will also be able to get up-close with Wildwood’s furry and feathered residents.
Brand new arrivals, rescued bear cubs Mish and Lucy will be ready to welcome visitors in their new enclosure. There’ll be a chance to watch them feed and cool off in their pool while the keepers give a talk.
Eagle-eyed visitors might even spot some new faces at the park with the recent arrival of very shy baby red squirrels.
At Camp Wild, young visitors aged eight to 12, will spend the day with our team exploring our woodlands and wetlands. With no two days the same they’ll get the chance to forage for food, build shelters and cook on open fires. Other days they might be making enrichment for the park’s animals including wolves, wild boar and otters. Places are limited and will be available on Thursdays throughout the holiday by booking in advance.
Members and paying visitors must book an arrival time online at least a day before visiting.
