Exeter Leukaemia Fund wants people to serve up the Devon delicacy and raise funds for the charity

Supporters of the Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) charity shop in Axminster are urging local people to get out the jam and scones this summer.

They want individuals and organisations to hold a fundraising cream tea during June - either in their workplace or homes. Axminster's ELF shop manager Dawn Mears said: "The money raised will enable us to fund more services within patients' communities, making their treatment easier and less stressful.

"Devon is known for its cream teas and I urge people to hold an event and support the work that ELF does."

More than 600 people each week are treated at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital for a blood cancer or blood disorder. ELF supports patients and their families, providing practical and emotional support as well as funding two counsellors and a general therapist within the ward.
