Popular annual event raises more than £3,000 for worthy causes

The 19th Chardstock Street Fayre has been hailed a huge success – raising more than £3,000.

Main beneficiaries this year were Dementia UK, Axminster Memory Café, Flamingo Pool and other local good causes.

Visitors enjoyed a wide range of activities including the fun dog show, more than 50 stalls, bouncy castle and Punch and Judy. There were classic and competition cars, vintage tractors, Garwynn’s Reptiles and Bugs, bellringing and paper plane competitions in St Andrew’s Church.

The Chard Evolution Majorettes, Axminster Gymnastics Club, Chardstock’s own Morris troupe -The Chancers and Prancers – gave performances along with Western Promise Belly Dancers.

For the hungry there was a hog roast barbecue, cream teas and more.

Live music was provided by Dead Man’s Uke, Muzax, The Jurassix, Timeline, All Saints Off Beats, Steel the Show, The League of Ukelele Gentlemen, Hot Sausage, Miggi and Plain Sailing. Livewired rounded off the day with a brilliant set.
