Members of Axe Vale Canoe Club missed the royal wedding to clear up a 1km section of East Devon’s coastline.
More than a dozen club members joined East Devon District Council’s countryside team to take part in the coastline clean-up.
The team used canoes to remove rubbish from a 1km stretch of the coastline, east of the River Axe, up to Culverhole Point.
Cllr Tom Wright, the council’s portfolio holder for the environment said:
“It is fantastic to see community groups working together to keep the East Devon environment an outstanding place.
“This is a great example for StreetScene, the Countryside team and a local group working together for the benefit of local people, visitors and wildlife.”
East Devon District Council supported the clean-up by providing bags and litter pickers.
The StreetScene department arranged an additional collection of the rubbish. For more information about the Countryside team, call 01395 517557.
