Pictures wanted for next year’s official town guide

Time is running out to enter the photography competition for the official 2018 Lyme Regis tourist guide.

Photographers have until Friday (September 29) to submit their best images of the Jurassic Coast town.

The judges are keen to see images from photographers of all ages and experience, depicting the town in a variety of ways, including events, people, and landscapes.

Pictures must be at least 1Mb in size and should be sent to Sophie at assistant2@lymeregistowncouncil.gov.uk, along with your name, address, telephone number, and the date and brief description of the photo.

The guide is produced annually by Lyme Regis Town Council and 25,000 copies are distributed across the country.

Winning photographers will be given a credit in the brochure and will appear alongside images taken by Lyme Regis photographer, Simon Emmett.

Cllr Cheryl Reynolds, chairman of the council’s Tourism, Community and Publicity Committee, said: “Lots of photographs have already been submitted in this competition, but we would like to have as many as possible to choose from.

“I haven’t seen the standard of entries so far, as I will be judging the competition so I won’t see the entries until after the closing date. However, with Lyme Regis as a backdrop, I’m sure the standard will be very high.

“Not only is this is good opportunity for the council to find some fresh new images for the brochure to encourage visitors to the town, it is also a good opportunity for photographers to see their work in print and for their images to be seen by at least 25,000 people.”
