Crews battle to prevent some 300 litres of diesel entering a stream
Firefighters battled to prevent a major pollution incident when a tractor was destroyed in a blaze at Uplyme yesterday morning (Thursday, February 2).
Environment Agency officials were called to the scene at Gore Lane for fears that the vehicle’s 300 litres of diesel could enter a nearby stream
Firefighters from Lyme Regis tackled the blaze and later called in the environment protection unit and support appliance from Gillingham to deal with the pollution threat.
They dug a trench in the field to catch the diesel.
