Leaders needed to help run the unit when it resumes in September

Axminster Guides have issued an urgent appeal for adult helpers.

Spokeswoman Julie Graham says the existing leaders have recently given up and they are desperately trying to recruit volunteers, aged 18 and over, to help with the unit.

She said: “Leaders work together with the Guides to plan a range of activities. The girls last term wrote and produced a short video about issues that affected them. They also recently camped with Seaton Guides.

“The role would involve helping and organising weekly meetings, although we can be flexible if unable to volunteer weekly, and attend occasional local team meetings and training sessions.

“There would also be opportunities to camp with them. Leader training will be provided by local experienced volunteers, which would include first aid - it looks great on a CV! We will also arrange a DBS check.”

The guides are on summer break at the moment so volunteering would start in September. If anyone is interested they can contact Julie on 01297 32342 or e mail her at julie@sam-grabham.co.uk
