The annual duck derby in Sidmouth helped raise thousands of pounds for charity.

The event, organised by Sidmouth Lions, was held last Sunday by the River Sid in The Byes. The Corporate Duck Race raised £2,000, which will be donated to charities picked by the three winners - details will be released at a later date. The Yellow Duck Race raised £4,000 - from this, two cheques for £1,800 were presented to the Neurone Disease Association and the Sidmouth Admiral Nurse Appeal. The remainder of the money will be donated to the club’s charity and community service activities.

There were also 19 lucky yellow duck owners who won a part of the £1,015 prize money available. Chris Rignall, of Sidmouth Lions, thanked all the organisers, residents and businesses who supported the event, making it a success.
