Lyme Regis RNLI crew find only driftwood and return to base
Lyme Regis RNLI lifeboat was launched last night (Sunday, August 23) following a report of an object, possibly a body, in the water off Church Cliffs east of the town.
After an extensive sweep of the area driftwood was found at Broad Ledge. A lifeboat crew member was landed on the Ledge rocks and the driftwood was identified as the mystery floating object.
The incident was recorded as a false alarm with good intent. The lifeboat launched at 5.48 and returned at 6.45pm
