The leader of 1st Honiton Scouts has been thanked after her group sent 38 goody boxes to soldiers serving in Afghanistan.
Helen Turner met with Lieutenant Simon Swindells, Sergeant Mark Shaw and Rifleman Josh Smith, of 7 Platoon, B Company, 2 Rifles, at a medals parade in Northern Ireland. Helen said: “They were absolutely overwhelmed with the boxes.
“They were so grateful for all the things that we had sent out to them, especially the shaving foam and crisps.
“The soldiers also loved the remembrance plaque that we had made and sent out to them last year.
“To finish off the project that we had started in September, I presented them with a plaque which had our group scarf around it as a keepsake. I was chuffed to be able to represent 1st Honiton Scouts at their Medals Parade and got to know that everything that all our scout members had donated to the boxes were well and truly needed and enjoyed by all 33 servicemen of 7 Platoon.”
