The Tub Club has reached its target of 30 local businesses - and more still want to join.

The club was launched just 10 weeks ago with each business committing £500 to pay for the £15,000 bathroom in the Hospiscare East Devon Day Hospice, which is currently being built in Honiton.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of local businesses wanting to join and become part of the amazing community fundraising happening all over East Devon. This is one step nearer to making the day hospice a reality,” said John Arnold, Hospiscare’s corporate relationship manager.

“We’ve reached 30 members, but are happy to take a few more.”

The bathroom is an essential part of the hospice and is extremely popular with terminally ill patients, allowing them to relax in a big bath of bubbles, which many cannot do at home.

It will have specialist equipment, including a whirlpool bath with a hoist to ensure those who are less mobile can safely enjoy a relaxing bath.

Businesses that have already signed up to the Tub Club are Alan Rowe Barbering, Natural Beauty by Bev, The Sidmouth Arms, Stones Solicitors, Halse of Honiton, Robert Friths Sidmouth, Ramer, Howdens Joinery, Select Windows, TSB Exmouth, Bartlett’s Farm Shop, Cosmic Ethical IT, Countywide, To-An-Fro Car & Van Hire/Honiton Garage, Co-operative Food, Otter Windows, Lloyds Bank (Honiton, Ottery, Sidmouth, Budleigh Salterton), NatWest Exmouth and other NatWest Devon branches, Harts of Honiton, Moshulu Shoes, Fulfords Honiton, Specsavers Honiton, Bithrey Holdings Ltd, Ivedon Garden Machinery, Computer Components Ltd, Santander Bank Honiton, Hamblys, Peter Betteridge and Vigo Ltd.
