More than 120 villagers turn out to celebrate the year their birthday ends with a zero
Around 120 people attended a party at Kilmington playing field yesterday (Sunday, July 13) to celebrate the extraordinary number of residents who have a birthday ending in 0 this year.
The oldest present was 100-year-old Vera Hoskins, while the youngest was nought-year-old - Grace Victoria, the daughter of James and Vicky Herbert, at just three weeks.
The party started at noon, everyone brought a picnic, the marquee was awash with birthday cakes and “Swing of the Axe” generously gave their time, helping to create a lively and happy atmosphere which was enjoyed by the many generations of village residents.
Michael Collier, chairman of the parish council and a “Noughty” boy himself earlier this year, proposed a vote of thanks to all those who had helped with arrangements for this very enjoyable village event.
