But “kitesurfer in difficulty” turned out to be a marker buoy
A marker buoy sparked a rescue alert at Lyme Regis yesterday morning (Sunday, January 5).
Onlookers, who mistook it for a Kitesurfer in difficulty, called 999.
Lyme Regis Coastguards were tasked to meet with the informant and the RNLI Lifeboat was sent to investigate an object in the water.
Once both units were on scene a thorough search of the area was conducted and, after further investigations, the object in the water was declared to be a buoy.
