Dozens of stripy-topped Wallys found in Axminster during fund raising family day
Wallys were found hiding all over Axminster on Saturday.
Families turned out in force to track down the colourful book character in his stripy top and bobble hat.
The ‘Where’s Wally?’ hunt was organised by St Mary’s Catholic Primary School PTFA in conjunction with Archway Bookshop and raised over £300 towards an activity trail for the children.
Spokeswoman Jo Hawkins said: “The day was great! Families loved doing something different around the town and enjoyed the fact that it was something that could involve all ages.
“People said they had seen shops they hadn’t noticed before and shopkeepers said there was a real positive atmosphere around the town.
“We would really like thank the local community for all their support - Archway Bookshop supplied lots of free Wally goodies including book vouchers, Axminster Tools contributed towards our printing costs, The Sweet Shop donated lollies for all entrants, Paul Hayward gave his time for free all morning, balloon modelling, town crier Nick Goodwin attended, and mayor Jeremy Walden handed out the prizes
“We plan to do it again next year and make it a real event on the Axminster calendar!”
