Lyme trio join specially trained RNLI rescue team in Lostwithiel

Three volunteer members of the RNLI lifeboat crew in Lyme Regis joined the charity’s flood rescue team helping victims of the emergency in Lostwithiel, Cornwall, at the weekend.

Helmsman Martin Croad was first to answer the call for specially trained crew in the early hours of Saturday (December 22)

He returned home later that day only to be called again along with Tim Edwards and Elliott Herbert.

The RNLI’s south-west flood rescue team used two lifeboats and assisted 12 people, two dogs and six cats.

Martin Croad said: ”Conditions were grim and we worked closely with the Fire and Rescue Service and the Environment Agency.”

The Lyme Regis trio returned from Cornwall in the early hours of yesterday (Sunday) morning.
