Community turns out in force for completion of Membury school project
Membury primary school’s new learning resources centre was officially opened on Friday.
Head teacher Ruth Elenor cut a tape before naming the new complex – The Acorn Studio.
A disused outside toilet block has been converted to provide the new facility which offers pupils and staff a modern and adaptable learning space, away from the main building.
Officials said the project could not have been realised without the help and support of local residents at fundraising events throughout the year and especially those individuals who had given professional skills free of charge.
Villages turned out in force for the opening ceremony and to see a display of the pupils’ recent project to study wartime, with period songs being performed by the youngsters and staff.
