The chairman of Honiton and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Colin Wright, made the announcement at its annual meeting last week in Allhallows Museum.
He said: “Next year we intend to do all the events which we did last year - except the lights on the Christmas tree.
“Although they look nice it is not really value for money for our members as 40 per cent of our income goes on these six weeks.
“So, unless we find suitable sponsors it is something we may have to forego – the carol service and market will not be affected.”
It will still continue with its other Christmas events such as the carol service and market.
