Twenty fire appliances sent to scene.
Twenty fire appliances, including crews from Honiton and Sidmouth, are tackling a blaze involving five thatched properties.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service says the roof is well alight on two sides and that the road, in Buller Square, Credition, is closed during what is expected to be a “protracted incident”.
Emergency services were called at 12.39pm and the incident is ongoing.
Three compressed air foam jets, three main jets, two hose reels and 12 sets of breathing apparatus are currently being used to tackle the blaze.
