A charity ball raises more than 3,000 for Cancer Research UK.

AN AWLISCOMBE woman has raised thousands of pounds for Cancer Research after holding a charity ball in memory of her brother.

Becky Manley presented a cheque for 3,331.02 to Dawn Harrison from Cancer Research UK in Honiton after organising a charity ball with her friend Suzanne Warne at Bicton College back in November.

The event was held in memory of her brother Daniel, who passed away in November 2009 at the age of 23, after losing his battle with signet ring cell cancer.

She said: “It feels brilliant to have made that amount of money and I hope it helps other people with their battle with cancer.

“We would like to say a huge thank you to Bicton College for their generosity, the Summers’ family at Wessington Farm and to everyone who supported the evening and provided raffle prizes.”
