Mayor says Royal Marines’ stop off in Honiton is an honour for the town.
THE Mayor of Honiton says it was privilege to welcome the March for Honour to town.
Speaking at the Royal British Legion Club during a civic reception for the Royal Marines, Councillor Peter Fleming said: “It is a privilege to have them here.
“It is an honour for the town.”
Councillor Fleming was accompanied by his wife, Valerie, the mayoress, and town crier Dave Retter.
Only two other councillors attended the event - former mayor Councillor Sally Casson and veteran town council member Vera Howard.
Members of the Honiton branch of the Royal British Legion attended the event, along with scores of local residents.
The marines chatted to everyone in the room during a buffet reception.
