SEATON WI enjoyed a talk and slideshow by a former teacher and resident on the island of Tristan da Cunha, in the South Pacific.
Mr R Grundy explained the island, with 260 islanders, is one of the last remaining outposts of the British Empire.
And residents live with the knowledge that an eruption could happen at any time – with the last one offshore in 2004.
Nine members attended the East Devon Group Spring Meeting at Musbury Village Hall. Seaton WI won the collage competition and were presented with a certificate and plate.
Visitors are welcome to the next meeting on July 20, at 2.15pm, at the Seaton Methodist Church Hall.
