Car parks virtually empty for England’s crunch game against Slovenia.
THE football World Cup has hit East Devon District Council where it hurts today - in lost revenue from car parks.
Lace Walk car park, the largest in Honiton, was virtually deserted from 2.30pm.
Civil enforcement officers were confronted with bleak scene when they arrived to check tickets at around half-time.
A quarter of the council’s revenue is generated from parking charges.
Elsewhere in Honiton, pubs were enjoying a welcome boost.
Regulars at The Star, in New Street, arrived to watch the game in fancy dress.
England were, at last on form, beating Slovenia 1-0, keeping the dream alive.
Cars are currently just starting to return to the car park, at 6pm.
