AN AXMINSTER man has been praised by magistrates in Exeter for his good progress on a drug rehabilitation order.
Michael Peter Taylor, 19, pleaded guilty last month to two offences of burglary, the details of which were not given in court.
The court issued a community order on April 1, for 12 months, with six months' supervision for drug rehabilitation.
He was also ordered to take part in a Thinking programme.
Taylor, of Ridway Court, had his first review on Monday, May 10. The court heard he had reduced his drug intake, including opiates.
His probation officer said: "The impressive thing that springs to mind is, it's very early in the order, but he's moved away from amphetamine. But we are a long way from the finishing line."
Taylor added: "I think it's going very well and I'm really pleased to have the chance to get my life back on track and to get a job."
Chairman of the bench Peter White said the news was encouraging.
"Only you can do it," he said. "You do have some good support - let's hope when you are here for the next review, it's equally good."
Taylor is due back in court for a another review next month.
