OLIVER Letwin has been returned to office in West Dorset, where he increased the Conservative majority by 1.1 per cent.
The constituency was on a Lib Dem hit list, but candidate Sue Farrant missed out by just under 4,000 votes. The Lib Dems' share of votes was down on the previous election, with a 1.2 per cent swing away.
With a high turnout at the polls, 74.6 per cent, Mr Letwin polled 27,287 votes taking a 47.6 per cent share.
Ms Farrant attracted 23,364 votes - 40.7 per cent of overall votes cast.
Other results: Steve Bick (Labour) 3,815; Oliver Chisholm (UKIP) 2,196; Susan Greene (Green) 675.
