A RETIRING governor at Upottery Primary School has had a shield named in her honour.
The Gill Thomas shield is to be presented annually to a pupil for outstanding contribution to the arts.
This year Tilly Gonzalez, 12, was awarded. She now studies at the Axe Valley Community College and her brother Reuben received it on her behalf.
School administrator Jean Gant said: "Tilly was in the school plays and very good at the arts in general.
"She was unable to accept the award as she's currently in a production with the college.
"It goes to show she still has a strong interest in the arts and her talent has been recognised there.
