IF YOU fancy doing a bit of physical work and helping the environment at the same time, why not go down to the Axe Wetlands this Friday, May 8. Volunteers will be working on the fencing to ensure that it is cattle proof - quite a task! The work will take place near to Black Hole Marsh, the new saline lagoon, which is not yet open to the public, so volunteering is your chance to see bits of the wetlands that the general public don't get to see. Volunteers will need to wear stout footwear and bring a packed lunch to keep them going through the day. We will be meeting at Colyford Memorial Hall, at 10am, from where we will wander down to the nature reserve. The day is expected to end around 4pm. To find out more please phone the Countryside Service on (01395) 517557.
