MAYPOLE dancing was a highlight of a May Day fete, held on the playing field in Payhembury.Children from the village primary school entertained crowds during a fun day, held over the Bank Holiday weekend. The village pre-school also took part in the event, running stalls.Ella Kimber was crowned May Queen and Zach Butler was May King for the day. The Reverend Cate Edmonds performed a crowning ceremony. Organised by the playing field committee, the fete boasted a bouncy castle, hot food and refreshments. Other attractions included popular fair games, such as splat the rat.
