Connor Hallett, accused of arson with intent to endanger life, is remanded in custody by Exeter Magistrates

A 21-year-old man has been charged in connection with a massive fire in a block of flats at Seaton on Sunday morning (December 2).

Connor Hallett, aged 21, from Harbour Road, Seaton, appeared in court today (Wednesday, December 5) accused of arson with intent to endanger life.

Exeter magistrates were told the charge was indictable only and must be heard before a judge and jury.

Hallett’s lawyer Jeremy Wickham did not make a bail application and his client was remanded in custody to appear before Exeter Crown Court on January 3rd.

The blaze above the Royal Clarence pub affected 15 flats, some of which were occupied at the time.
