Combe Farm Shop in Honiton has won gold and silver at the Taste of the West awards.

They entered Taste of the West for the 2nd year in a row and are thrilled take home awards for their sausages.

The Otter Ale and Godminster Oak Smoked Cheddar sausages won silver. All their pork sausages are made using local Prestige Pork from Taunton.

The Curried Goat Sausages won gold – made using local Talaton goat, these not only won a Gold Award but were picked by the Exeter university Chefs to be used in the Taste of the West Awards lunch.

The annual Taste of the West presentation lunch returned after a three-year absence, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The event took place at The Great Hall of Exeter University on Tuesday, September 13. Celebrations commenced at 11.30am with a drinks and canapé reception in the University Forum, followed by a delicious sit-down West Country lunch, where guests enjoyed a wealth of this year’s award-winning products. It's not the first time Combe farm shop has won, last year they won silver at the Taste of the West for their Guiness and Leek Pork sausages, and gold for their Smoked Bacon, Tomato and black pudding sausages They also took home awards at the Sedgemoor Winter Fair last year for their Plain pork, Cheese and Spring Onion, red onion marmalade pork sausages and cider and whole grain mustard.

Manager at Combe Valley farm shop, Joanna Marker said: "We won a gold award for Best South West Farm Shop and went to an awards ceremony at the Great Hall in Exeter back in October, unfortunately, we didn’t win the Champion of this category but still a massive honour to be nominated and we had a great day out as a team at the ceremony celebrating with lots of other local producers.” The farm shop is open seven days a week and will be selling a selection of locally sourced produce from the Estate farmland and the surrounding area.

Fresh vegetables, fruit, dairy and other local products will sit alongside the butchery counter, offering all cuts of meat and our in-house bakery serving freshly prepared bread, cakes and pastries.
