Axminster Lions Club has donated five cheques to five different good causes in the town.

Donations were made to The Axminster Community Shed and Axminster Repair Shop, both of whom helped get the Santa Float back on the road, the Waffle House, Axminster Food Bank and Kerry Payne, who gives up her spare time to provide a chiropody service at Pippins Community Centre.

The Axminster Lions Club attended street fairs and fetes with a tombola, participated in Axminster Carnival and, most importantly, supported Santa on his sleigh as he travelled around Axminster with the help of with several invaluable volunteers throughout December, raising just over £2,000 and distributing sweets.

Time is spent throughout the year looking for ways to support any individual or group local to Axminster that finds themselves in need.

The Lamb Inn, the Red Lion and Prospect Garage also offered their support by raffling a Lions Christmas Hamper each.

The club is always on the lookout for new members who would be interested in supporting the community and being part of a large network of friends and likeminded individuals.

They meet the first Wednesday in the month at the Lamb Inn at 7pm or please contact either Bev Love on 07789 554707 or Julie Burke on 07810517495 or message them through their Facebook page, ‘Axminster & District Lions Club'.
