April sees the start of a new season of illustrated talks at The Beehive organised by Honiton u3a.

There is a wide variety of subjects to appeal to all tastes, and visitors are very welcome.

On April 19, David Follett will be talking about how he turned tragedy to triumph, following a serious road accident in 2007 which left him with a spinal cord injury. He now represents England at Para Badminton and is ranked 22 in the world and number 1 in England.

David tells of his time in hospital after the accident, his rehabilitation, and his determination to live life to the full. He explains some of the problems disabled people face in everyday life and how he has overcome them.

As well as being national wheelchair badminton champion, he has carried the Olympic torch, demonstrated an exoskeleton suit and has travelled the world. His talks have been described as: “Inspirational, interesting, informative and amusing.”

All talks take place at The Beehive, starting at 2 p.m. Doors open at 1.30 p.m. Visitors are welcome in return for a donation of £2.
